Stability of Self-Configuring Large Multiport Interferometers

چکیده

Realistic multiport interferometers (beamsplitter meshes) are sensitive to component imperfections, and this sensitivity increases with size. Self-configuration techniques can be employed correct these but not all equal. This paper highlights the importance of algorithmic stability in self-configuration. Na\"{\i}ve approaches based on sequentially setting matrix elements unstable perform poorly for large meshes, while power ratios well cases, even presence errors. Based insight, we propose a self-configuration scheme triangular meshes that requires only external detectors works without prior knowledge imperfections. extends rectangular mesh by adding single array along diagonal.

Towards Self-Configuring Networks

Current networks require ad-hoc operating procedures by expert administrators to handle changes. These configuration management operations are costly and error prone. Active networks[2, 3] involve particularly fast dynamics of change that cannot depend on operators and must be automated. This paper describes an architecture called NESTOR that seeks to replace labor-intensive configuration manag...

102ℏk large area atom interferometers.

We demonstrate atom interferometers utilizing a novel beam splitter based on sequential multiphoton Bragg diffractions. With this sequential Bragg large momentum transfer (SB-LMT) beam splitter, we achieve high contrast atom interferometers with momentum splittings of up to 102 photon recoil momenta (102ℏk). To our knowledge, this is the highest momentum splitting achieved in any atom interfero...

A Self-Configuring RED Gateway

The congestion control mechanisms used in TCP have been the focus of numerous studies and have undergone a number of enhancements. However, even with these enhancements, TCP connections still experience alarmingly high loss rates, especially during times of congestion. To alleviate this problem, the IETF is considering active queue management mechanisms, such as RED, for deployment in the netwo...

Experimentation with Self-configuring Systems

The Internet of Things (IoT) has received increased interest over the last years. Objects of the real world (e.g., cars, traffic lights, buildings, mobile phones, etc.) become connected to the Internet. It is expected that self-configuration becomes an increasingly important subject with the IoT. Self-configuring systems (SCS) adapt their behavior to changes in the environment by dynamically ch...

Self-Configuring Heterogeneous Server Clusters

Previous research on cluster-based servers has focused on homogeneous systems. However, real-life clusters are almost invariably heterogeneous in terms of the performance, capacity, and power consumption of their hardware components. In this paper, we describe a self-configuring Web server for a heterogeneous cluster. The self-configuration is guided by analytical models of throughput and power...
